Welcome
to the Pension Mandy
In 1997 we bought the first residential and commercial building. In the inner courtyard there were two unused rooms that could not be rented out, and so the idea of converting them into a guest room for private visits was born. We were somewhat fortunate at the time, as there was a need for rooms and apartments due to the new hospital construction, so we were well utilized from day one. So room after room was added.
The name actually came about as a gag from Mandy’s grandma – She came with a sign that said “Pension Mandy”. For our (at that time still) little Mandy this was of course super great. Since then, the name has been attached to us and has sometimes been smiled at and marveled at, especially by business travelers who were here alone. Mandy Unger took over the pension in January 2026.
Our house was completely renovated in 1998/99 and extended by new buildings in 2004 and 2006.

Room
We have 44 beds in 17 rooms and apartments, spread over four houses. Our rooms and apartments offer 1 to 4 people a pleasant stay in a modern and high-quality ambience.

Equipment
Satellite TV is a matter of course, as well as a refrigerator, coffee making facilities, kettle and dishes. All units have private bathroom with shower and/or tub and toilet. (Bathtubs not available in every room)
The apartments and vacation apartments have as a minimum equipment a kitchenette with hotplates and refrigerator. Depending on the size of the apartment, a fully equipped kitchen is at your disposal, so that even a stay of several weeks is comfortably possible. In the house W-LAN is available for our guests.

Around
The breakfast room, remodeled in January 2017, is available to all guests for a comfortable start to the day. Upon request, we will be happy to pack you a lunch for a small fee for your excursion.
Our paid parking lot is located in the courtyard of the main building. Our parking spaces are limited and cannot be reserved in advance.
We offer dry and safe storage for your bikes

quasi grown up in retirement, but permanently employed and fully involved since June 2015
Education / Expertise:
Hotel and catering assistant (Swiss hotel training / studies), previously 1 year of high school in Texas/America (therefore I speak English fluently)
Hobbies:
Baking, cooking (there’s always something homemade to discover on our breakfast buffet) and my great love: my son and my daughter
Why exactly that:
Out of passion! And the professional support of the owners (my parents), because I have learned the subject and gained a lot of different experiences at home and abroad, and I can contribute and implement them well.

Since when:

Training / expertise:
I trained as a restaurant specialist after leaving school in the GDR. After that I became a department manager of the restaurants at the HO (trade organization) until the fall of the Berlin Wall. In 2003 I completed a correspondence course at IST Düsseldorf BA of Tourism.
Hobbies:
Lots of sport (cycling, running until the doctor comes, marathons and more) That’s where the link to our fitness and activity offer at the guesthouse comes from.
Why exactly that?:
Because it’s a passion that never lets you go.
Is there a connection between hobby and job?:
Healthy, sporty diet – hence the special breakfast, plus 4 running camps a year (from beginners to advanced runners together with a trainer), active involvement in the development of the active park in the town of Senftenberg, including a running course. Running map are part of the connections.
